I love reading books. I always have. I’ve also thought about writing a book (or books) of my own. When I was in middle and high school I would write short stories. They were always love stories. I couldn’t help it! I’m a hopeless romantic.
These days I think I would write about being a Christian military wife. There are some books about being a military spouse, but even fewer about Christian military spouses. Fact is, its hard to be a Christian military wife. Not only are you a military wife and dealing with all the things that go along with that, but we are also in a minority as Christians. As a military wife you need fellow military wives to be in your support group. They understand our lifestyle better than civilians. And you also need fellow Christians in your support group because they understand the spiritual struggles that go along with military life.
I live at Fort Campbell, KY. There are approximately 30,000 soldiers. There are approximately 51,000 family members! Out of all of those, we only have maybe 200 members in our PWOC (women’s bible study on post). Now, granted I’m sure there are many Christian spouses that don’t know about our group or just choose not to go. But 200 out of 51,000! You see my point.
The few books for Christian military wives that are available are very good. My favorites are God Strong: The Military Wife’s Spiritual Survival Guide and Tour of Duty by Sara Horn. She is the founder of the Wives of Faith organization. I am a member in my local group and it is small. But we are growing!
So yes. If I were going to write a book, it would be about life as a Christian military wife.
