This will be my first time going through a deployment. I have a lot of emotions because of that. But that’s not what this post is about. I am reaching out to all the military spouses out there who have experience with deployments. I need care package ideas! I need lots of them! Even if you aren’t a milspouse you can still give ideas. I’m calling this Operation Love Them Home. My plan is to send my husband, at least, one care package a month. Not to mention all the cards and letters I will be sending. There are so many men and women fighting for our freedom right now. There are lots of groups who are sending care packages to troops that don’t have spouses or anyone else who send them packages. I am very thankful for those groups. However, this is for those of us who are sending care packages to our special service members.
This is one of my projects to keep me occupied for the next year. (I have a bunch!) I would love milspouses all over to join in! Grab a button from my sidebar and post it on your blog. Tell everyone you know! Leave your ideas in the comments on this post. Let’s LOVE THEM HOME!
You could also ask people who have been deployed (ahem…) for their ideas. I would love to give you some ideas…
Well, that’s why I said even people who aren’t Military spouses can contribute! LOL!
When I had a friend who was deployed he would call me all the time. He said the one thing that he really missed having was Easter Candy. Especially peeps. So I went to wal-mart and bought literally 12 packages of those things and other misc Easter candy and sent it over to him. I also made cookies and sent those. I wasn’t for sure how they would hold up but I made sure to seal them pretty good and he said that an civilian from Afghanistan even ate one of my cookies!!!
So if your husband likes sweets I would say sweets!
I am not a milspouse, butI have heard that while our guys do very tough work, there is also lots of down time too. I was thinking what about a game care package with decks of cards, uno, maybe poker chips (they might be too heavy),or monopoly $$ to bet with, as well as game night snacks, peanuts, popcorn etc. What do you think??
Aww, ::hugs:: what a great idea for care packages!
Thanks for stopping by my SITS Friday Potluck Post!
Whatever you send is fully appreciated, or so I’ve learned… but some of the big fav’s I’ve found:
Warm Delights!, Ramen Noodles, hard candy, gum, fav magazine (be careful with this one tho, some car magazines get censored), Christmas tree with mini ornaments and lights, whole pecan pies! (HAHA Don’t ask!).. list goes on and on. Have fun with it! Preparing care packages was always the highlight of the month for me!
Take care!
Dee
Those are great ideas!!
