Manicure Monday: Francine
I LOVE nail polish. Obsessed is more like it. I have always loved doing my own nails. I usually just do a color change and not a whole manicure. You know, the buffing and shaping the nails and even working on the cuticles. I probably should do those things but I don’t have the patience. Every once in a blue moon I will pay for a manicure, but it’s usually for a special occasion. Like for my wedding. Or when my dad passed away and I got American flags painted on my nails. (I’m not that talented, people!)
I used to just buy any and every brand of nail polish and I didn’t really care how good it was. Over the years I have become more picky about the nail polish brands that I use.
Enter Julep.
I think I found Julep through an ad on Facebook. It said something about Free nail polish so I was intrigued! You don’t have to tell me twice to get something for free. And since I love nail polish so much I thought it was perfect for me. Soon I was hooked.
Julep has this awesome subscription based box called Maven. Every month on the 20th, the Maven box is open. You can choose a curated box based on your Beauty Bio or customize your own box. The Beauty Bios are Bombshell, It Girl, Classic With A Twist & Boho Glam. I think I bounce around between Bombshell and Classic With A Twist, but I normally will customize my own box.
The monthly box is $24.99 a month and then you can add on additional products for a discount. Like polish for $4.99 instead of $11.99 or more! And then when you select 3 or more add-ons, you get a free gift!
Great Quality Products
I really love getting the Maven boxes every month, not only for the fun box of products that come in the mail, but also for the quality of the products! They are all 5 Free which means that the polishes are not only made without the 3 common chemicals found in nail polishes (Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde), but also without 2 other very dangerous chemicals (Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor). Trust me, this is an EXCELLENT thing.
Not only are the Julep nail polishes 5-Free but a lot of them are now Breathable! This is the explanation from their website:

Manicure Monday
Now to the point of this post! I have decided to start a weekly theme of Manicure Monday! Every Monday (hopefully!) I will be sharing one of my favorite Julep nail polishes. Or a couple of them, if I use more than one for my manicure.
Today I’m sharing one of my new colors: Francine. It’s this gorgeous “seaglass iridescent chrome”, according to the Julep website.
I normally like the creme colors better because they cover the nail with fewer coats than some of the others, but this one did very well. I did two coats on top of a coat of the Be Strong nail treatment. Afterwards I put on a coat of the Freedom Polymer Top Coat. I swear by this stuff! It dries super fast and hardens like a gel. It’s great for people who use their hands a lot or wash their hands all the time. I love that it dries so fast. I mean like 5 minutes or less and it’s hardened. Perfect for me. This time I had to use 2 coats of the Freedom top coat because the chrome nail polish almost like soaked it up!
I really like the color of Francine. I kept looking at my nails the whole time I had it on them! The picture really doesn’t do it justice!
Be A Maven!
If you love nail polish as much as I do, you should consider becoming a Maven! This is one of my favorite subscription boxes that I’ve seen out there. (There are a TON now!)
