I’m sure you’ve heard of the TLC show Extreme Couponing. That’s where the women (and some men) get hundreds of dollars worth of groceries for 80-90% off retail price. It’s pretty impressive to watch.
Unfortunately, the show doesn’t show how much work really goes into couponing or how much money these people are spending on newspapers, etc. Also, I’ve seen on a few websites that some of the people on the show didn’t exactly follow the rules of couponing the way they should have.
Despite all the bad vibes coming from the blogosphere about the show, there are some good things about extreme couponing. I have found some awesome blogs who not only post daily and weekly deals, but they also teach you the correct way to use coupons. That’s pretty awesome!
Southern Savers – This is one of my favorite sites. When I am making my grocery list, I go straight to Southern Savers and see what awesome deals I can get for that week. You can find most of the major chain stores in the South listed here. You can also print out your personal grocery list with coupon match-ups included!
Faithful Provisions – This is the next site I go to. Kelly at Faithful Provisions lives in my area so I know that she is getting the same sales ads that I do. That’s helpful to me since Southern Savers is in a different state and the sales prices may be different. Kelly also has an AWESOME book called Saving Savvy. I am almost done reading it now, but let me tell you… I learned a lot just in the first couple of chapters! If you are new to couponing, GET THIS BOOK!
Krazy Coupon Lady – This one I’m fairly new to, but I know a lot of people love this site! Just like the other two, this site posts weekly and daily deals. There is also a book available, but I have not read it.
And then, of course, the I Heart Publix blog. Just FYI, I LOVE PUBLIX! Hehe, just sayin. This site is similar to the other sites, but it is focused on Publix sales. (Obviously) They do list other deals, so it’s smart to sign up for the email list. My biggest problem is that I don’t have a Publix close to me anymore! There is currently one being built about 25 mins away, and another one will be started sometime closer to me. Until then, I’m going to Kroger!
Now I haven’t been able to get those coveted 80-90% savings on my weekly grocery trips. I am averaging about 40%, which isn’t too bad in my book. (No I don’t have an actual book like some of these awesome ladies!) I would love to hear about your couponing stories and savings! If you don’t use coupons but you get them in the paper, please don’t throw them away. Donate them to ME friends or family who DO use them! (I’m willing to accept any and all coupons! Hehe.)
Happy Saving!!

Thanks for sharing these! I am slowly getting into saving more with coupons and matching sales. I still have a lot more to learn.
You’re so welcome! I’m still learning too but I totally love it!
