Selling Furniture With Lightning Speed!

Yesterday morning, my friend DiAnna and I were packing again. We were finishing up in the spare bedroom. We moved a crappy old dresser out to my van so we could take it to Goodwill. Then we decided to list the bed and the rest of the bedroom furniture on Craigslist and the local site, Campbell Yardsales. Within 1 minute I began receiving phone calls about the bed! It was IN-SANE! (hyphenated for dramatical effect! And yes I made up that word!) I only had one person call about the other furniture. I had about 20-30 calls within 20 minutes. I couldn’t get anything else done. SO much for working on the living room!

Well, the first person that called me came over. They had lost everything last year when they were moving and their truck rolled over 3 times and burned. They have been living in a furnished house since then and have nothing! So they are just trying to furnish their house! So they got here and wanted to buy the bed AND the chest, nightstand & tv stand for the bedroom. They also bought hubby’s old computer desk and our kitchen table! LOL! I had been planning on selling those but wasn’t going to right away. But I thought about it. This means I make some extra money, I have less furniture to move, I have more room to walk around amid the boxes, and these people will have some furniture! So it’s a win-win situation. I am so happy about it. I sold all of that for $300 which was only about $25 less than what I was asking for everything separately. Not too shabby!

We took the kitchen table and chairs over to their house because they didn’t have a way to haul it. They are bringing a truck by today to get the rest of it. So I will have the whole spare room to keep the boxes in until we move! WOOHOO! And it’s amazing how much more room I have in the kitchen. I can get to my pantry shelves soooo much easier! We never even used the table anyways, except to collect junk! So now it’s not a mess!

Of course, stupid me. I forgot to take before pictures of the kitchen. It was that crazy! I feel like we didn’t stop at all yesterday!

Later today, hubby and I are going to head to Louisville KY to see my grandparents for the weekend. My grandparents didn’t get to come to our wedding because their health doesn’t really allow them to travel for long distances. It was devastating, but I understood. So we are going to see them, taking my wedding dress and our wedding DVD so they can see them. We also just got our pictures from the photographer up on the website so they could see! (I will be posting those as soon as I get the disc with them on here. There are over 600!!)

This weekend is also my Grandma’s 80th birthday!!! So we will be there to celebrate it with her! I am so uber excited about this! My parents and my sister are going to try to come up there as well. I hope they can. It would make my Grandma’s whole year.

Well, I will post more later. Hope everyone has a blessed weekend!

Packing Away My Life

I have been neglecting too busy to write on my blog lately. I have been trying to get our apartment packed up for moving. It’s so overwhelming for me. I’ve been trying to do it by myself, because my husband works a lot. But it’s to the point where I look at things and I can’t even think of where to start, so I just don’t. I’ve learned recently that if things are organized and everything in it’s place, I will keep it that way. I feel better about myself and even have more energy. But if things look like a tornado went through I can’t even get myself to start. I’ve tried to clean this place up so many times, but it always ends up back the way it was or worse! So why even bother?

Well, my friend DiAnna is amazing. She has helped me move 5 out of the 7 times I have moved in the last 4 years! She packs in an organized fashion. So I asked her to help me – AGAIN! (this time I am paying her because she & her husband are both unemployed right now)

She drove an hour yesterday to come to my apartment. She got here at 9:30am. We talked for about an hour because we hadn’t seen each other in a while. But then we got to work. We started on the spare room. It looked more like a storage room! There were things all over the bed, on the floor, just piled on top of other things! I had trouble just walking in the room! By the end of the day (around 10:30pm) we had everything off the floor, everything off the bed, most of the furniture cleaned out, (nothing in drawers, etc) and we had taken some boxes to my storage unit and the rest to Goodwill! It looks so good now!

She’s coming back tomorrow and we’re gonna finish up the spare room and then start on the living room. And since I found my camera yesterday, I’m going to do before & after pics of the rest of the rooms. (I’ve been looking for it for 2 months! Since we came home after our wedding and dumped everything on the bed!)

Now, let me just clarify that we are not horribly messy people. The reason our apartment is so bad is because it was small for my husband’s stuff and then I moved in and brought most of my stuff too. There’s just no room for it all. Which is why I will be making several trips to Goodwill in the next couple of weeks!

I will post pictures later.

Furniture Anyone??

*Update!!*
I just sold the desk. WOOHOO!*

I am in the process of moving to Matthew’s apartment. I am already here, but my furniture is not. We are selling a lot of Matthew’s things, to make room for mine. His stuff has been either free or very cheap, so it’s mostly, well, not very good. I sold a computer monitor for $15. I just sold his mattress and boxsprings for $25.

Yes, I said $25. It was in such bad shape that I didn’t care how much I sold it for. He got it for free anyways!! LOL!

I sold 2 matching accent tables for $20.

A Boat shelf for $20.

I still have several things for sale. And a few of them might go today.

Desk

Coffee/End Table Set

Antique Nightstand

Counter-height Kitchen Table

Louis Vuitton luggage

And a few other things. Christmas tree, computer mouse, small dresser, wooden cd tower, floor lamp, sony surround sound system, wireless router, etc. Those are just some of the things.

I have a couple of things at Hannah’s house too.

My Dresser (Mirror not shown)

Swivel TV stand

So, if anyone is interested and in the Nashville/Clarksville area, just let me know. I have everything listed on Craigslist and www.campbellyardsales.com so if they sell, I will update this post.

Much Love,

Moving…Again

I’m in the process of moving all of my stuff from my sister’s house to a storage unit in Clarksville. It’s crazy. I’m also working on getting rid of/organizing Matthew’s stuff to make room for my stuff! LOL! He has a lot of clutter. I don’t like clutter. I am determined to get everything organized. It may take me a few months, but I’ll do it!!

In other news, I’m pretty sure that Callie and Carey will be here on June 20th. Not sure how long. Probably all summer. Unless they start to act up and not do what we say. They know they have to behave or they’re going home. (Mostly Carey, but I didn’t say that!)

Well, I better go. Matthew’s off work today, so I’m gonna take advantage of that and get him to help me clean. WOOHOO!

Much Love,
