Just Another Day in Raleigh

Today is the 4th day of our vacation. We were planning on going to the zoo today, until I noticed that it is over an hour away. No thank you!

This week has been fun so far. We got here on Sunday and went to Matthew’s kids’ house for Easter dinner. It went pretty good! Then we brought the girls back to our hotel and just hung out. Yesterday we went letterboxing and just spent time together. I’m not sure what we’re gonna do today. Maybe a movie. Maybe more letterboxing. Not sure yet.

I will try to get some pictures on here later. I haven’t put them on my computer yet, and I can’t get internet in our room. I’m sitting in the “breakfast area” of our hotel lobby right now. Gotta love it. Kinda funny. When we checked in, our room was awesome but it didn’t have a fridge. We needed the fridge for the snacks we brought. So I called the front desk and asked about it. They said we had to switch rooms to get a fridge. So we did that, but we were in a different building. The building we’re in now is older. The room is more like a suite, with 2 rooms, but everything is older. The bed is definitely worse that the first one! Boo. My back was killing me yesterday. Thankfully I have 3 willing back massagers! Hehe.

Well, I’m gonna head back to the room. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Letterboxing & A Civil War Battlefield

Ft Donelson National Battlefield

Saturday my hubby and I decided to go letterboxing. We went to Dover TN which is where Fort Donelson National Battlefield is. We have both been there before but it had been several years. I wanted to get a National Park Passport so I could get it stamped at the battlefield. My parents bought one for my sister and I when we were younger and we went on a lot of road trips, but we lost it when we moved. So hubby and I bought another one. We got it stamped at the battlefield. We found one letterbox at the battlefield. Then we went to look for another one but it wasn’t there. We went to the Fort Donelson National Cemetery, which is part of the historical tour.

After that we headed to Land Between The Lakes. (LBL) Hubby had gotten clues for several letterboxes at LBL. We stopped at the South Welcome Center in LBL and got our passport stamped. The guy that worked there was very nice and helpful! He headed us in the right direction. We got to the point where we were supposed to start looking for the first one at LBL. I stayed in the van because my hips have been bothering me and there was a hike to get to the letterbox. But we didn’t know it would take an HOUR! I was getting worried because there isn’t good cell phone service, but he eventually came back! LOL! Then we went to the next starting point and it had a hike too. So I waited again. He called me and told me he had taken the wrong trail! So he took over an hour on that one but didn’t find the letterbox.

All in all, the day was awesome. We had a picnic lunch, visited some really cool places, and got to spend quality time together! Here are some more pictures I took.

Saturday was awesome! But then Sunday morning hit. I got sick at my stomach at 3am. NOT COOL! First time in a long time. My throat is still sore! I can hardly talk. But my amazing hubby has been taking care of me. He is so good! Thankfully I was just sick the one time. I’ve been taking it easy on my stomach though.

On a lighter note, Thursday is my BIRTHDAY!!! YAY! I am so excited! I’m hoping my sister will drive up to our apartment for dinner, but I’m not sure if she will or not. My friend DiAnna, who has been helping me clean and pack, will be here! And I’m sure hubby has something planned. But he won’t tell me ANYTHING! (I’m ok with that!)

That’s all for now. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!

Everytime we decide to do something outside, it RAINS! This is so annoying! Two days in a row now! Ugh. We’re not staying home though! Hehe. We’re going to Matthew’s office to look up images for making stamps. We’re going to plant some letterboxes in Clarksville because there is only one set here. I’m excited.

Although, now, we need gas and the power is out everywhere. So of course all the gas stations have no power. Now we may not even have power at his office because its out on the main road. Here’s prayin people!

Much Love,
