I’m a little late, but it’s better late than never! Right?
1. Have you and your spouse agreed to live in separate locations (a geographical bachelor tour) knowing that the short-term inconvenience would have long-term benefits for your family? How did it work for you? submitted by When Good People Get Together
We haven’t done that, except for deployment. Which we didn’t have a choice about. However it did help us. Our communication is much better now. BUT! thank God deployment is almost OVER!!!
2. What is your favorite thing about being a MilSpouse? submitted by Sarah Ruth Today
Hey that’s me! Hehe. Let’s see. My favorite thing would have to be the pride I have in my husband, who does so much to support me and fight for our country. I have become so much more patriotic than I already was, since I became a MilSpouse. I hope that never changes.
3. If you could still have your spouse/significant other and your family, but take the military life out of it…would you? submitted by Trust. Love. Believe. Bake.
I don’t think I would. Being associated with the military has brought me into contact with some amazing people. It has put me through difficult situations, which have in turn made me stronger. I thank God for the military life.
4. What have your homecoming experiences been like after a year long tour of separation? submitted by Army Soldier, Army Wife
Ask me next week.
5. If you have a child(ren) why you chose their name(s)? If not, why you would name your child something? submitted by Tiara’s & ACU’s
I don’t have any children that I have named. Hopefully soon! We will pick names that mean a lot to us.

The Sarge and I went to Gatlinburg for our anniversary. It was also part of his R&R. We ended up getting snowed in for 3 days! It was a blast. It was relaxing and romantic. It was also our first time to go on vacation together, just the two of us! It was the BEST!
.
My sweet husband shoveled the driveway so we could get out to explore! It was so cute.
.
Isn’t he adorable. He definitely makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. I’m so blessed.
.
Our cabin was A-MA-ZING! Seriously. I would love to live there for real. And the view was gorgeous!
.
We tried to find some letterboxes in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but with the snow and cold we couldn’t really find them.
.
We did find a really cool letterbox at this cute diner! It was fun!
We love traveling together. And I can’t wait til he’s home so we can start again!
I’m linking up with Kelly’s Korner for Show Us Your Life. This week’s topic: Your favorite vacation spot.
Make sure you check back at Wife of a Sailor to see other posts!
1. How many pets do you have? And what type? submitted by Life and Times of a Displaced Jersey Girl
As of right now, none. My family’s cat, that we had for 14 years and lived with my parents, went away to die the week of Thanksgiving. It was sad. My amazing husband says that as soon as we move, we can get a pet. I can’t wait!
2. What are your favorite projects to do while hubby is away? submitted by my-inspired-nest
It’s been unpacking, organizing, starting a business, etc. Lots of things.
3. What are the must-haves in your deployment care packages? submitted by Christine’s Little Blog
Oh he got lots of goodies. Starbucks VIA, mac & cheese, spicy peanuts, etc. Each box was decorated with love.
4. If you could star in any TV show, which would it be? submitted by Just a Girl
Oh good grief. I have no idea. Why must people ask such odd questions?! LOL!
5. What was the biggest hurdle that you faced during your/your significant other’s first deployment? submitted by The Pavlik Perspective
Most definitely the death of my beloved Grandma. It’s been so hard on me. I know that sometime during the first week my husband is home, I will break down about my Grandma. I just need to be in his arms and cry.
Just thought I’d do this for fun. I found it on my new blog friend Brittany’s blog, Every Day Life of an Air Force Wife. Hope you enjoy!
1. How long have you been a military wife? About a year and 2 months.
2. What branch of service is your husband? Army
3. Active/Reserve? Active
4. What is his job? he is a clarinet in the band! He plays at different ceremonies as well as with the Dixieland band (part of the overall band in his unit) all around. He loves it.
5. How many deployments have you gone through? We are currently going through our first. Almost over!
6. ACU’s or Class A’s on your man? ACU’s. I’ve only seen him in Class A’s once. He looked good, but I love seeing him in ACU’s.
7. What do you like about being a military wife? Being so proud of my husband!
8. Do you live on base? No. I actually live an hour away from base, because of the deployment. I live with my sister. I thank God for her every day!!
9. What is your favorite base so far? I’ve only lived at one so far. The base is nice, but I hate the city it’s close to. None of my fave stores are there! The area around our next base is so much better, even though the base is a lot smaller!
10. What’s the hardest part of the military life? Deployment. Ugh. And TDY’s, etc.
11. Do you go to the grocery store or commissary? Grocery store right now, because we’re so far away from the commissary. But next base I’ll go to the commissary.
12. Do you work or stay at home? Stay at home. Had a job here for about 3 weeks but it was wearing me out. Due to the 60+ miles I had to drive every day, not getting to talk to my sweetheart as much (my boss, let me but I was focused on the baby, so I couldn’t really talk), etc. I became very depressed and would cry all the way home. In rush hour traffic. Not cool. I’m much better now that I am at home again. I do have my own business selling jewelry though!
13. Do you have a lot of military wife friends? Only a few. And none of them are close by. I only talk to one of them consistently. She and her husband are like family to me and my husband. I love them!!
14. Do you prefer Walmart or the PX/BX/MCX/NEX? Target. I used to love Walmart, but since they have changed so much, they never have anything I need! It’s so frustrating. I do like the PX at our base, but I never go.
15. How did your husband propose? He woke me up 15 minutes before my alarm went off, at 4:30am the day we were taking his daughter home. (she lives 12 hours away) I was kinda irritated that he woke me up before my alarm. I said “What are you doing?” He just sat there. I asked again. He held up the ring and said “I thought I’d ask you something.” I sat up really fast, with a huge grin on my face. (I knew it was coming, just had to wait for it to be official!) He said “Will you marry me?” I said yes and gave him a big kiss. It was the best day!
16. Did you marry him after he joined or before? After. Way after! He had been in 18 years by the time we got married!
17. How long have you been together? 2 1/2 years.
18. Any kids yet? We don’t have any together (YET) but he has 3 daughters from his first marriage.
19. Any kids yet to come? In the (hopefully near) future.
20. Is your husband one of those “I am a soldier hear me HOOAH” kind of guys? In a way he is, but not really. He claims the Marines more than the Army. LOL! (I guess the first love syndrome is true for military too!)
21. Have you ever done combatives with your husband? No.
22. How many bases have you lived at? One
23. If you could change one thing about the military? I honestly don’t know.
24. Do you like military balls? I’ve never been to any, but I’d love to go.
25. Where does your family live? Tennessee
26. What do you do for a job? House wife and loving it!
27. Have you ever gotten in a fight with an NCO’s wife? Well, I AM an NCO’s wife… but no.
28. Name one thing you do when your husband is gone? Spend way too much time on the internet.
29. Do you think other wives do that too? I’m sure
I love Fridays. The promise of the weekend is wonderful. Especially with the beautiful spring weather we are having right now! I love it!
Anyways. On to the questions!
1. What are some of your ideas for staying connected with family…you know, those people we moved thousands of miles away from? submitted by Live it. Love it (or not). Write About It.
As of right now, I still live with my sister because of deployment, and my parents live 15 minutes away. Now, this fall we will be moving to another state. It’s still not that far away. Only about 2 hours. Regardless, it will take some getting used to. I love living with my sister and being able to hang out with her every day! I’m definitely gonna miss that. We will still see each other. And call and text and facebook, etc. I’m not worried.
2. What’s the most romantic gift you have GIVEN? submitted by Painting My Canvas
Me, myself, and I. Oh and the lingerie my husband picked out! Hehe.
3. Would you encourage your child, if they came to you and wanted to join the military? submitted by Perfectly Imperfect
Absolutely. I would tell them to do their research and make SURE they wanted to join, but I would definitely be supportive. It’s such a remarkable thing to do. My husband has been in the military for almost 20 years. How could I not be supportive?!
4. What is your least favorite bill to pay and why? submitted by A Little of This, A Little of That
Our car payment. It’s something I never wanted to have. But we needed a better vehicle. And I love my minivan (I’m a soccer mom with no kids yet! Well, that live with me anyways.) I’m praying that we can buy a car for my husband with cash. Anyone willing to donate? *hopeful look*
5. What is the proudest moment you’ve had as a military spouse? submitted by Our Okinawa Life
It’s kinda still going on. When we had just started dating, my husband wanted to get out of the Army. He had been over the weight limit for a while and he was frustrated. He was having trouble losing weight and he was tired of the Army giving him a hard time about it. He finally decided that he needed to do everything he could to lose the weight so he could retire. When he left here in July, he weighed in at 262 lbs. As of his last weigh in, he is down to 216 lbs!! That’s 46 lbs! Plus, when he was home for R&R he gained 13 pounds and lost that again once he was back overseas. He’s doing so great and I am so proud of him!!
My beautiful stepdaughter C has her daddy’s eyes. They are so beautiful. I love looking into them. Of course, she and her daddy both know that and will close their eyes to be mean! But that’s ok. I am so thrilled that I got this picture. It’s definitely one of my favorites. Here’s another one.
.
This was from our wedding. So beautiful. (I’m not partial or anything!) C is the sweetest girl I’ve ever met. She loves to cuddle with me. I call her my Monkey because she likes to hang on me. I love it.

Here is our happy little family the day that my sweetheart proposed to me. I am so incredibly blessed. (This picture is missing her 2 sisters, but they were thought of!)
I love the show Army Wives. I am so glad it’s back on! Last season, there was an episode where a lot of the main characters got deployed. That episode was aired the day my husband was deployed. Let’s just say it took me a few weeks to be able to watch that one! I have been anxiously waiting for this season to start, as I know lots of other military wives have been as well.
Well, now Lifetime has a new show, that airs right after Army Wives, called “Coming Home”. It’s all about military men and women surprising their loved ones. Now I am all about shows that highlight military life. But given the fact that my husband is still deployed and I’ve been incredibly emotional lately, I just can’t watch it yet. I just watched the season premiere of Army Wives and just the commercials of Coming Home make me cry! And they are only 30 seconds long! UGH!
I am excited about the show though. I can’t wait to watch it, but it’s gonna have to be either a day where I just need to cry, (you know you have those days too!) or after he comes home! I’m sure I’d still cry! LOL!
So what shows do you watch that make you cry, but you can’t stop watching?
I’m so excited! I’ve had so many problems with the phone I have had for a year and a half. I love that phone, I just keep having hardware problems. Thankfully Sprint has been great about replacing my phone (4 times with the same kind of phone!) But today I got a new phone. A different kind of phone than I had. I am now a proud owner of an HTC Hero. This is my first Android phone and I’m so excited. I’ll only be using this phone until I upgrade in a few months. (I’m still not sure why Sprint wouldn’t just let me upgrade early…) However, this works out better because I have a phone that works now and when I upgrade, hubby can use this one until he gets to upgrade. Win-win.
I’m still learning how to do things on it, but I’ve always been really good about that. I love it so far. I’ll be sailing through it in no time!!
In other news, I lost 4 lbs last week!!! I was shocked when I weighed this morning. I had no clue I had lost that much in one week. I’m so proud of myself. I just have to keep at it.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!!
