When It Rains, It Pours

This past month has been so incredibly stressful. First my Grandma having surgery. Going in and out of the hospital. Then finding out that my husband is leaving in just a few weeks. Then I took my dad to get a CT scan done. He got the results a week later. Turns out, he has 2 spots on his right kidney. It’s cancer. He will have a biopsy done on June 14th to find out what kind. We are praying that it is not the same kind that his parents died from.

I’m also moving in less than a month! I have to pack. I have to rent a moving truck. I have to have all the funds available to move in. I have to switch things over to new accounts. Not to mention the week we will be out of town. SO basically I will have to pack up our apartment in like 2 weeks!

There is SO much going on. So much to do. So much stress. It’s very overwhelming.

In other news, we are bringing my stepdaughter home when we go out there for her older sister’s graduation. I am excited. She will get to spend time with her Daddy before he deploys. Unfortunately she has to go back the same day he leaves. (Don’t ask!) That makes me sad. I probably won’t get to see her again until he comes back.

I don’t really know what else to say right now. Life is happening.

Happy Memorial Day!

.

I just wanted to get on here real quick to wish everyone a happy Memorial Day. Thanks to all the men and women who have sacrificed so that we can have freedom. I am eternally grateful.

Another Update

After days of “You’re moving to rehab today or tomorrow”, they are FINALLY moving my Grandma today! (I think) Her doctors have all approved it. So now we are just waiting for the discharge and the ambulance to take her to the rehab/nursing home. I am so glad. I am driving home today and I’ve been worried about my grandparents and my Aunt Brenda having to take care of everything on her own. Thankfully my mom is coming up here today to stay until Sunday. So I feel so much better about it.

So… YAY!!!!! We are packing her stuff up now. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. Please continue!! I will update again later.

Quick Update

I just wanted to say hi real quick. This week has been insanely busy. I haven’t been online much. Grandma had her surgery on Friday. The surgeon said everything went “perfectly”! YAY! She is doing great! I’m worn out though! LOL! But it is all worth it!

I hope you all had a wonderful week and are having a great weekend. Talk to you soon!

Welcome to The 21st Century!

.

My favorite aunt called me today and asked me “Did you get my text message?” I thought for a minute. She had never sent me a text message because, as far as I knew, she didn’t have text messaging. “I don’t know,” I replied, “Let me check.” Sure enough, there it was! The very first text my aunt had ever sent me! I was so excited! She told me that she had gotten new phones for her and both my grandparents. Its about time! They have had the same phones for sooo long! I’m talking, at the very least, 5-6 years. Maybe longer! The bad thing is, now my grandparents have to learn new phones. (Grandma is 80 & Grandpa is 79!) But I will teach them!

My grandparents, several years ago

I am going to my grandparents house tomorrow. My Grandma is having surgery on Wednesday to have her hip replacement fixed. She had the first surgery years ago, but recently the rod in her hip has been grinding her bone away. It has been very painful for her. This surgery will help her. I am worried though, because she is 80 years old and a diabetic. Recovery will not be easy. My grandpa does not want to leave her side. He is insisting on staying with her in the hospital. That will be hard on his body, as he is not in the best shape either. So I will be there for a week to help them. I will be their “go-for”. Anything they need, I will get. Plus, I’m hoping my aunt will not have to take as much time off work since I will be there. She does so much for them!

I love my grandparents so much! They are my world! They have done so much for me that there is no way to thank them enough. I am so blessed.

I love my aunt so much too! She is my absolute favorite aunt, if not person, in the whole world! Since she doesn’t have kids, my sister and I are like her kids. She spoils us, but she takes care of us. She is very protective of us! I love her more than words can describe.

Kidcation Part Two

We are back home! We got home on Sunday night, late. Monday was kind of a day to get back to normal for me. LOL! I didn’t do ANYTHING! Same on Tuesday. Which was really nice! Wednesday I did a few things around the house and for Matthew. But today I wanted to post some more pics from our vacation Kidcation. Hope you enjoy!

Being silly!

If you notice, I’m normally BEHIND the camera! Of course, most of the time someone is taking a picture of me & Matthew, he is making goofy faces. It makes me so mad! We have very few good pictures of the two of us! (See following)

So there are most of the pictures from our kidcation. We had a lot of fun! Now, can I go on a relaxing vacation?!

Kidcation at its Best!

We are more than halfway through our “kidcation” visiting the kiddos for their spring break. We’ve done lots of stuff! Monday we went letterboxing. Tuesday we went letterboxing again and then went to see a movie. Here’s some silly pictures:

In other news, my blog layout will be changing today. This awesome designer Jill from IKR Design has been working on it for me and it’s ready! So if my blog looks weird today, its because she’s installing the new layout.

Just Another Day in Raleigh

Today is the 4th day of our vacation. We were planning on going to the zoo today, until I noticed that it is over an hour away. No thank you!

This week has been fun so far. We got here on Sunday and went to Matthew’s kids’ house for Easter dinner. It went pretty good! Then we brought the girls back to our hotel and just hung out. Yesterday we went letterboxing and just spent time together. I’m not sure what we’re gonna do today. Maybe a movie. Maybe more letterboxing. Not sure yet.

I will try to get some pictures on here later. I haven’t put them on my computer yet, and I can’t get internet in our room. I’m sitting in the “breakfast area” of our hotel lobby right now. Gotta love it. Kinda funny. When we checked in, our room was awesome but it didn’t have a fridge. We needed the fridge for the snacks we brought. So I called the front desk and asked about it. They said we had to switch rooms to get a fridge. So we did that, but we were in a different building. The building we’re in now is older. The room is more like a suite, with 2 rooms, but everything is older. The bed is definitely worse that the first one! Boo. My back was killing me yesterday. Thankfully I have 3 willing back massagers! Hehe.

Well, I’m gonna head back to the room. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Sister Day!

Today my baby sister and I are going to spend the day together! (Ok, she’s not a baby! She’s only 2 years younger than me!) I’m excited because we haven’t spent much time together since I got married. Mostly because I live an hour away and hubby and I have been staying close to home to save money.

My sister is one of my absolute BEST FRIENDS! She’s the best sister anyone could ask for! I am so blessed to have her in my life!

She was also my maid of honor! And a good one! She helped keep everyone in line and me calm! LOL!

Well, enough talking. I’m gonna go see her! YAY!

Much love,

Sarah Ruth

My Sister is SICK!

Please pray for my baby sister. She has a stomach virus. (my mom thinks) The last time she got this sick, we ended up taking her to the emergency room because she was dehydrated from not keeping anything down. I hope she doesn’t get that bad this time. I am going down to my parents house in the morning to take care of her while my mom is at work. (My dad can’t really do the whole vomit thing) So also, pray for me!

Much Love,
