Giddy-ness

I decided to use one of Mama Kat’s Writing Prompts today. I didn’t use one from this week. I totally used Random.org to help me pick one! LOL!

I decided to choose #232. “What are YOU giddy about?”

.

.

I’m sure you can all imagine what I’m giddy about! I am so unbelievably, incredibly, absolutely giddy about my husband coming home for R&R. I’m more excited about that than I am about Christmas! And I LOVE Christmas!!

He’s been gone for 4 months and 3 weeks now. It has been a long road. And we’re not done yet. But we are blessed that we will have 2 wonderful weeks to spend together soon! *happy dance*

The closer we get, and the more I think about it, the more giddy I get! I just miss him so much! I miss the little things the most. Holding hands, hugs, watching tv and movies together, spending hours in bookstores together, laying in bed just holding each other happy to be in each other’s arms. Ok, so thinking about that stuff makes me sad too, but then I think that I’m gonna have those things again for 2 weeks and I get giddy again!

Anyways. That’s what I’m giddy about. What are YOU giddy about?

19 Down, Way Too Many Left

Today marks the 19th week that my sweetheart has been away from me. Ugh. Have I mentioned lately that it sucks? Because it does. I haven’t been sleeping very well. For example, I’m writing this at 3am! I want to sleep, but I end up just laying here.

Thanksgiving was really hard on me. I am so beyond thankful for my amazing husband. But being without him during the holidays just hurts. Christmas will be worse. Thankfully we are going to be celebrating Thanksgiving/Christmas/his birthday/and our anniversary all during his R&R. I am excited for that! He is too. :)

Changing the subject. Is anyone done with their Christmas shopping yet? I almost am. I just can’t figure out what to get for my grandparents. They are the kind of people who have a lot of stuff, but don’t really need any material things. It’s really hard to shop for them. I thought about making them something, but I have no clue there either. I need suggestions!

Changing the subject again. I LOVE my “Poster” app. It lets me post on my blog directly from my phone! YAY! So cool.

Well, I’m gonna try to sleep now. Sweet dreams!

Happy Thanksgiving 2010

.

I hope everyone has a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving. Today is bittersweet for me. My husband is far far away. Our family is not complete this holiday. That’s the bitter. The sweet part is that 2 years ago today, I knew I was going to marry him. That makes this holiday extra special for me.

Well, I’m off to finish cooking. The food is smelling GREAT! Happy eating!

The Life of an Army Wife

.

I was minding my own business, living my life, and then I fell in love with a soldier. He stole my heart. So I became an Army Wife. And I am so proud to be! But I have to say, it’s harder than I thought it would be. I mean, it’s hard enough being newlyweds! Getting to know each other in new ways, learning to live with each other, etc. Add to that preparing for and then going through a deployment. It’s a lot to deal with.

I miss my husband. I miss being close to him. I miss being able to hold his hand, hug him, cook for him. The little things. You don’t realize how much you need them until they aren’t there. A big one for us, he always takes the trash out. I HATE taking the trash out. I miss going out to eat with him. I miss going to movies with him. Or just watching a movie at home, snuggled up together. I have to say, it sucks.

I am so so so grateful for the internet. For Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo messenger and Skype video chat. Because of those things, I am able to talk to my beloved very often. That has really helped me through this! Especially since we have had a lot of medical problems in my family recently. Several surgeries and people in the hospital. I’ve been helping take care of people. It’s a lot to take on. Being able to talk to my husband, who is also my best friend, has helped me so much. He calms me down, even from over 7000 miles away.

We have been having some amazing conversations recently. Every time I talk to him, I fall more and more in love with him. He is truly my other half. I am a better person because of him. And it is so hard being away from him. I can’t wait for him to get home!

With him leaving just after 6 months of marriage, it’s going to be like starting all over when he gets back. On one hand that sucks. We will have been married for over a year and have to get used to each other all over again! But on the other hand, it’s exciting! It’s all new again! That can be fun! I know I’m up for the challenge!

Sleep Deprivation

.

Apparently I have not been sleeping enough. I went to bed last night around 11:45pm, which is kinda early for me! When did I wake up this morning? 11:45am!!! I woke up and though “What in the world!?!” I feel so much better today though!! LOL!

It’s hard to sleep without my husband. Some nights I just don’t want to go to sleep without him, so I will stay up until I just can’t keep my eyes open. However, if I try to go to sleep any before that, I’ll lay there for hours. Thinking. Which can be dangerous. Thankfully that didn’t happen last night. I slept wonderfully. It was awesome.

I hope I don’t sleep that long tonight though! A girl’s gotta get SOME stuff done!

My Husband Rocks Friday – Deployment

My husband is far away from me. I miss him very much. But even as far away as he is, he still makes me feel so loved. He talks to me as much as he can. He sends me sweet cards and emails. He makes me fall in love with him more and more each day.

Most of my friends don’t know much about military life. They can’t imagine what I’m going through with this deployment. It’s not easy to explain either.  Well, I found this list about life during deployment. I thought I would share.

1. You wear old sweatpants and sweatshirts to bed.

2. You can watch whatever you want on TV without arguing with him first

3. You get up in the middle of the night to check your e-mail.

4. You sleep with your cell phone incase he calls in the middle of the night.

5. You love watching cute love movies because it reminds you of all the cute things he does when he’s home.

6. You haven’t shaved your legs in weeks.

7. The mailman knows you because you are always out waiting for him to come.

8. You start paying close attention in class when the words “military” or “iraq” are mentioned.

9. You suddenly have an obsession with anything military related.
10. You see someone wearing an army, navy, or usmc shirt and you get this overwhelming urge to talk to them.

11. You make friends with strangers online just because they are in the same situation as you and are the only ones that can truly understand what you are going through.

12. You can’t decide what to wear when you meet him at the airport because his flight comes in at a ridiculous hour in the morning and you want to look cute, but not too cute, because your cutest outfit you want to save for your first full day together.

13. Your first Christmas together is… apart.

14. You find yourself checking your e-mail every fifteen minutes.

15. You know all the time differences between where you are and Iraq, Ireland, Kuwait, Italy, Germany, Korea, and every state in the U.S.

16. The highlight of your day is getting a letter that was mailed a month ago.

17. And if you don’t get a letter, the highlight of your day is writing him a letter that you know he will be able to read in a month.

18. You realize that HOMECOMING is so much more than a football game.

19. You want to hit any happy couple you see together

20. You get excited about “unknown” phone numbers calling you.

21. You’ve exhausted every idea a brain could have of what to put in a box.

22. You see a “support our troops” sticker on a car when you are stuck in traffic and you find yourself guessing about who they know that is deployed and thinking about their entire life story.
23. When the clock says 11:11, you find yourself wishing for the same thing every time: a call from your soldier.

24. You get excited when its only 5 months until you see your Soldier instead of 7!

25. You can’t stand girls that talk about missing their boyfriends who live a few hours away. You just want to yell “drive and go see them them” because if you had the chance, you would jump on the first plane to go see your soldier no matter how far it is.

26. You don’t know what teams are on top for football, basketball, etc.

27. You wouldn’t dream of walking out of the house without the cell phone and every number you have is forwarded to that cell.

28. You find yourself randomly crying from just looking at a picture of the two of you together.

29. You find yourself randomly crying and you sometimes have no idea why.
30. You stay on the internet for hours searching for anything and everything about the military.

31. You talk to your friends about him so much that they know his full name, birthday and even his favorite color.

32. You find yourself speaking in acronyms (that no one other than you and he would understand).

32. You are reading this and smiling and nodding because you know it’s so true

Fish in the Sea

.

This is the 3rd care package box I sent to my love. Hehe. I think it’s cute! I didn’t take pics of the stuff I put in it. I probably should have. Oh well. I sent some snacks, some magazines, a mouse pad with one of our wedding pics on it, a flip photo frame/album filled with pics of us and family members, some shirts, a water gun & beach ball for fun, etc. He loved it all! He got it today!

Now I have to figure out what to do for the next one! Any ideas?

.

OH YEAH! WOOHOO for my 300th post!!! *Happy Dance*

2 Months

It’s been 2 months since I’ve seen my husband. Been in his arms. Kissed his sweet face.

Most days I’m ok. I get through the days without crying much. Not today. As I’m sitting here typing this, I can’t stop crying. I miss him so much. I can be with people all day long and I still feel so alone.

I miss cuddling with him. Holding his hand. It’s the small things. You don’t realize how much you need them until you don’t have them.

If you have your loved ones close by, make them feel loved and appreciated.

Prayers Needed!

My dad is having surgery today to remove the cancer on his kidney. We will be at the hospital all day. Please keep my dad and my mom, sister, and I all in your prayers.

Also, please keep my aunt in your prayers as she is having surgery today as well. She had surgery a few weeks ago to repair her rotator cuff, and she got an infection. The infection messed up the repair so she has to have the surgery again.

My Grandma has gone home from the hospital, finally. YAY! Please pray for her recovery. It’s been hard on my Grandpa as well.

The Sarge is doing great in Afghanistan. We get to talk quite a bit, which I am so thankful for! Please always remember him in your prayers!!

Thanks for your love and support! Hope everyone is having a great week!
