Packing Makes A Busy Week!

.

I haven’t posted much this week because we have been packing for our move. We have a week left! I’m so excited to get out of our apartment. I really don’t like it! Plus I will be SO glad to be back in my home town! My 15 year old step-daughter has been staying at my sister’s house, helping her roommate pack her stuff to move out. She is moving out this weekend. (Today or tomorrow) She has to re-paint the bedroom and bathroom before we move in. So hopefully that will be done during this week!

I’m having another yard sale today. I’ve made more than twice as much as I did last weekend!! Which is crazy to me. Last weekend was a NEIGHBORHOOD yard sale. This week is not. Plus, this morning it rained a little bit. Thankfully, it was just for a minute or two and then it stopped. Its also better today because my dad’s van is not blocking the garage! So we have everything IN the garage instead of out in the heat! MUCH BETTER! I won’t be open much longer though. I’m ready to hit the pool!

I will try to set up some scheduled posts for the next week or so. I hate leaving you all hanging! Hope everyone has a superb weekend!

A Happy Graduation and a Hotel Evacuation!

We are in North Carolina this week because my husband’s oldest daughter just graduated from high school. We are SO proud of her!! The graduation was at 8:30am yesterday morning. We got up early, drove to Duke University’s Cameron Indoor Stadium and got our seats. The ceremony itself wasn’t that long, because there were more graduations happening there later. Here are some pictures!

Now, about this Hotel Evacuation, you ask. We came back to our hotel yesterday after the graduation and lunch at Shell’s house. We had been here for about 2 hours when the front desk called and said that the police had apprehended someone and they had to search the hotel. We were like “oooookaaayyy”. We got in our van and drove to the shopping center next to our hotel. We sat there for about 45 minutes and then we called the hotel and asked if we could go back to our room. They told us that the police hadn’t even gotten the search warrant yet and it would take about 2 hours for them to get it. So we went back to the room. We fixed our dinner and started watching tv. Around 2 hours later we got another phone call and they told us that the police had the search warrant and we had to evacuate for about 30 minutes. So we got back in our van and drove to the office building right next to the hotel. We could see more action that way.

There were about 6 police cars, a SWAT hummer, a big police truck (almost looked like a moving truck), K9 units, etc. It was CRAZY! Then the local news van pulled up right next to us. We still had no clue what had happened. We thought that maybe it was drug related. Matthew had said he smelled marijuana a couple of times when we were walking into the hotel. Plus, its an extended stay hotel, so all the rooms have full kitchens. We were thinking of different situations while sitting in the van. After about an hour we saw the police leave and people started going back in the hotel. We went back to our room and started watching tv again. Then the news came on. Apparently there had been a BOMB THREAT! What a way to spend our vacation.

Thankfully nothing bad happened. They arrested the person and we were all ok. But it made a GREAT story! LOL! Do you have any interesting vacation stories?

What Am I Writing?

I have not been posting much lately because, quite frankly, I don’t know what to write about. I’m not a mom, so I can’t write about the crazy things my kids are doing or how I want to raise them. I don’t work outside the home, so I can’t write about my strange co-workers. I don’t have many friends that I hang out with, and really none close to me, so I can’t write about the fun times I have with them. I don’t want to write about all of my aches and pains, because then I am just complaining all the time. Currently I mostly write about my amazing husband. But I’m sure that gets old.

So what am I writing about? Me. Simple, boring, never does anything cool, me.

Yay.

I need inspiration. I need ideas. I need a muse. SOMEthing!

What do you write about? Where do you get your inspiration from?

My Blog is Carbon Neutral

carbon neutral coupons and shopping with kaufDA.de

There is this awesome project going on in Germany. It’s called “Make It Green”. Their goal is to raise awareness of the environmental damage caused by carbon emissions. They are raising awareness of the carbon emissions caused by blogs!

A blog with 15,000 visits per month has a carbon dioxide emission of 8lb per year.

They have created these “My Blog is Carbon Neutral” buttons so that bloggers can show that we care about the environment and the carbon footprint from our blogs. This will help lower the carbon emissions.

By writing this post, and placing the button on my blog, the Make It Green project is going to plant a tree on my behalf. Which will lower my carbon footprint! How awesome is that! I’m so excited about that! For more info, click on the green leaf.

Goals for 2010

On the way home from my parents house tonight, my husband and I were talking about my blog. I told him I wanted to do more with it. Up til now it has been mostly just a journal of my life. Which is great! I love reading personal blogs about people’s day to day life. But I also love reading posts about other topics.

So I decided that I want to come up with some topics that I will write about on a consistent basis. I would love for you, my readers, to help me come up with some topics that you would like to read about on my blog. Now, don’t get me wrong. I will still be blogging about my personal life. Trust me. With my husband deploying in a few months, it will be necessary! But what are some things that you would be interested in?

Another goal I have for this year and beyond is to make my list of 101 things to do in 1001 days. I’m sure you’ve seen/heard of these lists. A lot of my friends are doing them. I have been wanting to do this for a while now, I just haven’t made my list! I’ve started it!! But I still have a few dozen things to add! LOL! So be on the lookout for my list!

Well friends, it is getting late. My husband is getting ready for bed, so I must finish up here. Its time to snuggle with my love. *happy sigh!*

Much Love,
