My Messy Moment

The SITS Girls are having a giveaway! They are giving away an AWESOME Canon Rebel Camera. So of course I had to enter.

Entry prompt:

Spending time with friends and family can lead to fun and memorable moments, but also some very messy ones. Tell us about the messiest moments that you’ll always remember!

Thinking about messy things I could always tell you about a little girl or boy I babysat for who had a diaper explosion or made a mess with food or crafts. But everyone has those stories, right!

My story is a little different. (Oh Lord I can’t believe I’m about to post this for the whole world to see!) When I was 7 or 8 my family went to Disney World. In an effort to save money, my parents stocked up on crackers for us to eat in the parks for lunch. Ya know, the cheese and peanut butter ones? Well, my tummy didn’t really like them.

My dad really wanted to ride the roller coasters. My sister was too little to ride so my mom stayed with her. I was just big enough to be able to ride the big rides although I didn’t really want to. As we were in line for Space Mountain I began asking my dad questions about the ride. “Is it fast?” “Is it dark in there?” etc. To an adult the answers would be no. To a little kid it all seemed different.

Let’s just say the cheese & peanut butter crackers plus Space Mountain equaled a not so great day for me. And not so white anymore shorts. Thank God for Clorox!

Disclaimer: I received information about Clorox’s Bleach It Away campaign and am sharing my messy moment for the chance to win prizes from The SITS Girls. To learn more about the messy moment program, check out www.BleachItAway.com. Sharing your story on the Clorox fan page gets you entered for the chance to win $25,000 and daily prizes, and you can grab a coupon for Clorox® Regular Bleach.

It’s that time again! As always, please remember to check out the other amazing MilSpouses. (Click on the picture!)

1. The best part of October was the beautiful colors! I love getting to see the reds, yellows, and oranges of the fall trees! My Fave time of year!

2. The worst part of October was not being able to have people over. We are still unpacking and there’s not really room for us to entertain yet. We’re working on it though!

3. For Halloween, I’ll be myself. Hubby will be working and I’ll probably be home watching tv. If I was gonna go out though, I’d totally be Flo from the Progressive commercials!

4. I hope that in November I can get most of my Christmas shopping done! I like to get it done early so that I can actually enjoy the Christmas season.

5. Wifey has posted MilSpouse Secret Santa. I  will not be participating. Only because I have already signed up for a couple others. Maybe next year!

Quick update: my dad is home from the hospital! They said he may have been dehydrated and was on too much of his blood thinner medicine. He will not be taking any more for a few days.

1. My plans for Labor Day included packing for our move, but what really happened was went window shopping!

2. Call me crazy, but sometimes I just need to sleep all day long.

3. One of the funniest things I’ve seen lately is a picture of my mom holding the empty roll of aluminum foil she’s had longer than I’ve been alive!

4. It’s strange, but dvds out of alphabetical order drives me crazy while things out of place (but not messy) anywhere else is perfectly fine with me!

5. One, two, buckle my shoe… three, four with this move, I’ve never been excited more!

1. My plans for this weekend include packing for our move, but what I’d really like to do is go on a trip… but we’re moving in 2 weeks so we have to pack. And save for moving expenses.

2. I consider the Labor Day holiday the end of swimming. Unfortunately. Especially since here, in Tennessee, it’s usually hot enough to swim for at least another month!

3. My favorite meal for cookouts is burgers, homemade potato salad, baked beans, Grandma’s macaroni and a really yummy dessert, but my waistline wouldn’t agree.

4. So far, my favorite part of summer has been having my husband home!

5. When it comes to deployments, my philosophy is You CAN do it! It’s hard, it’s frustrating, it’s emotional. But you CAN do it!

College: A New Adventure

Yesterday was the beginning of my second semester of college. My first semester was incredibly challenging for me for a few reasons. First, it was my first semester of college ever! Just a short 8 years after I graduated high school! Secondly, it was a summer semester. As in 2 months cram packed with 2 classes! Then there was the fact that I was dealing with the loss of both of my grandparents. (Talk about depression. Ugh.) Plus being extremely busy with my husband, just home from the sandbox. (That’s Afghanistan people.

Whew! I’m worn out just from typing all of that! I’m hoping this semester will be easier. At least a tad. I am taking 3 classes this time, but they are spread out over 4 months. However, I’m moving in a couple of weeks so that will be a challenge. I can handle it.

My classes this semester are College Algebra, English Composition I, and World History & Civilization: 1650 to Present. I’m super excited about English and History. Not so much the Algebra. Math is my absolute worst subject. (Please PRAY for me!!)

Since my classes are all online, I have to be very disciplined with myself. I have assignments due every week and I have to make sure I get everything done. Which tends to be a problem for me. I get distracted very easily. It is usually different websites, but right now its packing for our move. Of course that has to be done too, but I have to get my assignments done on time. I can pack late at night. Or have my husband do it!

I guess I should quit boring you with the details of my homework! I may share some of my completed assignments with you, my bloggie friends! I do love to write. I’m most excited about my English Comp class! Hehe.

If you’re in college, what classes are you taking?

Great news! My dad is home from the hospital! Just in time for his BIRTHDAY! 50 years old today! Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Short and sweet today. Gotta go see my Daddy!

1. The first thing I think of when I get up in the morning is what time is it?…Gotta pee.

2. Lately, I’ve been craving  sweet potatoes  because they’re really yummy!.

3. Whenever anyone says the word sprinkler, it reminds me of my childhood because my sister and I would play in the sprinkler at my grandparent’s house while they would watch.

4. The happiest word I know is  love, but I think it is overused (just like the word hate) and underappreciated.

5. My spouse may hate it, but I absolutely love talking about future kids and planning for things that may or may not happen.

Hey all my fellow MilSpouses! Join in on the fun at Wife of a Sailor!

1. The best thing my parents taught me to do when I was a child was _________________.

Love God. My mom would openly thank God for everything. The rain, the sunshine, the flowers, the trees, parking spots! Everything. My dad would read the Bible to us at the dinner table. Their love and faith have taught me so much over the years.

2. However, one thing I wish they did differently was _________________.

I wish we could have gone to a homeschool co-op. We did the first year we homeschooled (my 7th grade year) but not after that. I think it would have been better.

3. One thing I’ve always wanted to try but haven’t is _________________.

I want to fly a plane!

4. One thing I never thought I’d try but I have is _________________.

Sushi! And I LOVE IT! I first had it on my 24th birthday. I was pressured to try it, but I’m so glad I did! (by FOUR people!! They know who they are!!)

5. If I could give my 16-year-old self one piece of advice I’d tell myself _________________.

Never settle. You’re better than that.

Don’t forget to check out my giveaway! Ends tomorrow!!

I’m So Thankful!

I decided to make today my Thankful Thursday. I’m so thankful for SITS and the opportunity to be their featured blogger on Monday. It was AWESOME!! I got lots of comment love and met some new blogging friends. YAY!

I’m thankful that my best friend is coming to see me tomorrow! Her baby shower is on Saturday but she’s coming down early just to hang out with me for a little while. She’s amazing.

I’m thankful for my husband. He cleaned up the living room and dining room (and even a little in the kitchen and my office!) tonight while my stepdaughter and I were at my parents’ house and shopping for baby shower supplies. He’s the BEST!

I’m thankful that my stepdaughter has been here this summer. I missed her so much this past year! She’s pretty awesome and has been a HUGE help to me today! I’m gonna miss her when she goes back home. :(

I’m extremely thankful for my parents. They raised me right and I am a MUCH better person because of them. They love me unconditionally, support me, and always give me sound advice. I also learned from their example. I praise God for them!

I’m especially thankful that my God is always present and never forsakes me. He provides for me, comforts me, and loves me no matter what. I am His and He is mine!

How was your week? Mine has been kinda slow. I’ve been catching up with my homework and just hanging out with my stepdaughter. We don’t get out much! Haha. Oh well.

This week’s questions are pretty simple. I hope you enjoy! As always, you can see other posts at Wife of a Sailor.

1. Facebook or Twitter?

I think I use Twitter more, but I definitely use BOTH!

2. Hard Tacos or Soft Tacos?

Hard tacos! I used to only eat soft tacos, but then a couple of years ago I had a craving for hard shell tacos and ever since then, that’s all I eat!

3. Gardening or crafting?

Definitely crafting, but I am trying my hand at gardening. I’m trying my hardest to NOT kill the plants I got from my Grandma’s funeral. Plus I’m trying to grow herbs now. When it comes to crafting, I love all kinds of things but I rarely ever get to do much. Someday, I’m gonna have a cottage just for my crafts!

4. Fruit or vegetables?

Both. I can eat salad all day (romaine or spinach. NOT iceberg.), I love me some asparagus and brussell sprouts. Strawberries, bananas, peaches, etc. YUM! Now I’m hungry.

5. Motorcycle or bicycle?

Most definitely bicycle. I haven’t ridden one in years, because I don’t have one. But motorcycles scare me.
