TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX HOME ENTERTAINMENT AND
RELATIVITY MEDIA SALUTE U.S. SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR
FAMILIES WITH AN ‘ACT OF VALOR’

Portion of the Proceeds from the ACT OF VALOR Blu-ray and DVD to Benefit Operation Homefront

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment in cooperation with Relativity Media and The Bandito Brothers pledged today to give a portion of the proceeds from the ACT OF VALOR Blu-ray and DVD to Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront is a national non-profit organization that provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. ACT OF VALOR will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD everywhere June 5th.

ACT OF VALOR is a great film depicting the tremendous skill, dedication, and professionalism of our men and women in uniform,” said Jim Knotts, President and CEO of Operation Homefront.  “The filmmakers should be commended for giving Americans a realistic look at the Navy SEALs.  We’re grateful that they are saluting these heroes with their support of our efforts to assist military families and wounded warriors.”

“Our main objective in making ACT OF VALOR was to honor the community, brotherhood and family sacrifice of our men and women in uniform. We can’t think of a better way to continue doing that than by partnering with Operation Homefront, which is a truly admirable organization that directly supports the service members and families of those that put their life on the line for us every day,” said co-directors Mike “Mouse” McCoy and Scott Waugh.

An unprecedented blend of real-life heroism and original filmmaking, ACT OF VALOR stars a group of active-duty U.S. Navy SEALs, alongside actors Roselyn Sanchez, Alex Veadov, Jason Cottle and Nester Serrano, in a film like no other in Hollywood’s history. A fictionalized account of real life Navy SEAL operation, ACT OF VALOR features a riveting story that takes audiences on an adrenaline-fueled, edge-of-their-seat journey.

ACT OF VALOR combines stunning combat sequences, up-to-the-minute battlefield technology, and heart-pumping emotion for the ultimate action adventure film–showcasing the skills, training and tenacity of the greatest action heroes of them all: real Navy SEALs.

Produced and directed by former Baja 1000 champion Mike “Mouse” McCoy and former stuntman Scott Waugh, and written by Kurt Johnstad (300), the film opened #1 in America when it was theatrically-released by Relativity Media on February 24, 2012. The ACT OF VALOR Blu-ray and DVD arrive June 5th just in time for Father’s Day.

1. What’s one thing in the past month you would have changed?

Part of me wants to say that my Daddy wouldn’t have died. But I wouldn’t want him to be in pain, so I shouldn’t say that. But I miss him.

2. What was your favorite thing that happened in April?

This is hard. I guess it would have to be getting to spend time with my Daddy the last week or so of his life, even though he was in the hospital. I loved getting to talk to him. However, his celebration service (funeral) was so beautiful. It was the most God-centered, spirit filled service I’ve ever seen. I know he was pleased.

3. What are your plans for Memorial Day?

Just spending time with my husband, sister and my Momma.

4. Have you ever traveled Space A? If yes, where… if no, would you ever try it?

I haven’t but my husband has. I’d love to!

5. What are you looking forward to in May?

Swimming! The pool at my mom’s neighborhood just opened. YAY!

“Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant”

My precious Daddy went to be with Jesus on Monday, April 23rd, 2012 at 5:40pm CST. Please continue to pray for my mom, sister & me as we grieve his presence and rejoice for his life. He has complete and perfect healing.

He accomplished his lifelong goal of hearing the words “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

Back In The Hospital

Hey loyal readers. I just wanted to let you know the reason I haven’t posted in a few days is because my dad has been back in the hospital. He had trouble breathing on Saturday so my mom called for an ambulance. He has been in ICU since then with blood clots in both lungs. He is on a blood thinner to clear them out. He also has atrial fibrillation in his heart, which basically means his heart wasn’t pumping his blood very well. That, with the blood clots in his lungs caused the shortness of breath. It also caused his heart to pump faster since it wasn’t working as good. His heart rate was very high.

This morning they looked at his heart to make sure there were no clots and then they shocked his heart. That sort of rebooted his heart and it is now beating at a normal rate. (for him anyways!) He has also had nausea for a while and they are trying to find the cause. They did an ultrasound of his gallbladder this morning and this evening they did a CT scan of his abdomen. We are still waiting for the results of that.

The visiting hours for ICU are from 9am to 6pm so I have been staying with him. My mom can’t miss anymore work. She gets there as soon as she can and they let her stay a little longer. She has also been able to go see him early before work. We are grateful for that. My dad has had some really great nurses too! And one of the perks of being in ICU is that the nurses only have 1-2 patients each. So he gets kinda spoiled!

They did say he is ready for a normal room, but the hospital is so full that he may have to stay put for another day or two. I don’t think he will mind!

Well, I need to sleep. I hope everyone is having a good week! Please remember my dad and our family in your prayers!

Simply Said

Alouette

I’m sure you’ve all seen this commercial by now.

I learned this song when I was in 3rd grade choir. It’s so peppy. But do you know what it means? My sister and I were wondering that so we looked it up. This is what we found.

Alouette, gentille Alouette
Lark, nice lark
Alouette, je te plumerai
Lark, I shall pluck you
Je te plumerai la tête
I shall pluck your head
(Je te plumerai la tête)
(I shall pluck your head)
Et la tête
And your head
(Et la tête)
(And your head)
Alouette
Lark
(Alouette)
(Lark)
O-o-o-oh
Alouette, gentille Alouette
Alouette, je te plumerai
Je te plumerai le bec
I shall pluck your beak
(Je te plumerai le bec)
Et le bec
(Et le bec)
Et la tête
(Et la tête)
Alouette
(Alouette)
O-o-o-oh

The song continues in this fashion, with the italicized phrase (a part of the bird) in each verse being substituted with a new one, with the previous items being recited at the end:

  • Et le cou
And your neck

  • Et le dos
And your back

  • Et les ailes
And your wings

  • Et les pattes
And your feet

  • Et la queue
And your tail
La Conclusion
The Ending

O-o-o-o-oh

Alouette, gentille Alouette
Lark, nice lark
Alouette, je te plumerai
Lark, I shall pluck you

Naturally, the literal English translation does not match up well with the meter of the song, so a slightly less literal (but more singable) version would be:

Little skylark, lovely little skylark
Little lark, I’ll pluck your feathers off
I’ll pluck the feathers off your head
I’ll pluck the feathers off your head
Off your head – off your head
Little lark, little lark
O-o-o-o-oh

And adding:

Off your beak
Off your neck
Off your back
Off your wings
Off your feet
Off your tail

Not exactly what you’d think huh! I guess it’s true that all things sound better in French. Just thought this was funny. Still trying to figure out what the song has to do with the Target commercial!

HE is Risen! Happy Easter!

I hope you all have a very blessed Easter.

Fashionable in Glasses

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was in the 5th grade. My eyesight has always been really bad. I can’t see anything clearly past about a foot away. The first time I got glasses I was finally able to see the leaves on the trees and the individual blades of grass. I could see the texture of the carpet in our house, etc. It was like a whole new world!

My first pair were cheap glasses. I could only choose from a few pairs. I’ve upgraded over the years. I love the glasses I have now! They are rimless and are so light I can barely feel them. They are wonderful.

My eyes have astigmatism so I can’t really wear contacts. I’ve worn them before but they just don’t fit my eyes very well. So I just keep up with my eyeglasses prescription. It works quite nicely!

If you wear eyeglasses and you want some cute and fashionable glasses, check out GlassesUSA.com. They have glasses for men and women and even sunglasses! You can even try them on with their Virtual Mirror.

This post is a review of GlassesUSA.com which I received compensation for. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Yummy in my Tummy

The Sarge and I have gotten out of the habit of cooking at home. We go back and forth with this bad habit. It’s hard to break! Today we decided to make a menu and go grocery shopping. We stopped at Wendy’s to grab a snack (I know, I know. Not helping!) before we headed to the store. It’s never good to go to the store while you’re hungry!

While we were eating our snack we quickly decided on a menu for the rest of the week. Here’s what we came up with.

  • Dinner tonight: pizza from Walmart
  • Lunch Thursday: sandwiches (or leftover pizza)
  • Dinner Thursday: hamburgers, roasted potatoes, broccoli for The Sarge and zucchini for me.
  • Lunch Friday: BLTs and chips & salsa
  • Dinner Friday: whatever I want since The Sarge is working that night
  • Lunch Saturday: Chicken salad sandwiches
  • Dinner Saturday: Chicken pot pie.

I’m hoping we can go to see my family on Sunday since it’s Easter. Unfortunately The Sarge is scheduled to work at his part time job that day, since it’s a busy day for them. We’re both hoping someone will work for him. We’re also supposed to celebrate my birthday with my family on Sunday. We didn’t really get to this past Sunday (my birthday) because my dad went into the hospital. He’s home now so we’re hoping to actually be able to spend time together as a family! And hopefully my mom will make pot roast!

What yumminess are you eating this week?
