This weekend has been CRAZY! My husband and I, and a friend of his from work, drove to Nashville to my parents house yesterday. Our plan was to stay for the day to help my parents organize their attic and make room for more things. The plan was going great.
And then the rain came.
It rained all day. I’m talking like 1-2 inches per HOUR! It started to flood! I’ve lived in Nashville my whole life and we get “Flood Warnings” all the time, but I’ve never seen it actually happen! The whole city has turned into a big lake! Its NUTS! Here’s a video of a building floating down the interstate. (Yes, you heard that correctly!)
We are stuck at my parents house. Its not flooded at their house, but we’re afraid to get out on the roads and get stuck! There are over 50 roads, major and back roads, that have been shut down due to flooding. Over 50,000 people have no power. We are lucky to have power here. I’m also very glad that I brought my computer with me! I’m kind of concerned about our apartment though. Its not nearly as bad in Clarksville, where we live now. (about an hour northwest of here) We have heard from some people that there is some flooding there. There is a small creek that is close to our apartment, which is why I’m worried about it, but I think we should be ok. Our apartment building is up kind of high. Of course, we need a BOAT to get home!
We spent the night here with my parents. My sister is here too. She came here straight from work yesterday to help with the attic and then decided not to go home because of the water. We may have to stay again tonight. In fact, I’m pretty sure we are. Matthew has talked to his commanding officer about it and they understand. His friend who is with us had to call out of work tonight too. The attic is looking great though!
Right now, Matthew is working on his essay for his English class that is due today. My mom is upstairs watching the news. (ie: the weather) My dad, sister & Matthew’s friend are about to play a game. And I’m on here!
Here are some more videos and pictures I’ve been collecting from friends today.
